I missed the luau??

I was feeling a bit sick after the flight and missed the first few days on the island. I heard the luau was a lot of fun. I'm sad I missed it. I hope I feel up to the ball tomorrow. Even if a girl doesn't have anyone to dance with, balls are fun, right?

...I don't have anything super pretty to wear, though. I'm sure I'll be pathetic compared to everyone else.

Even when you don't feel it, you usually are. I went through a period of feeling I wasn't even worth looking at once. But it'll pass. Just believe me when I say that you really are.

I...I heard about what happened, Shiraishi-chan. And....it's not the same, but my ex-husband was abusive. I know how it is to be constantly afraid and down about yourself. I was for the first two months after we divorced and while we were still married. I'm slowly getting over it...but it never really goes away. You've just got to remind yourself that the only thing that matters is what you think about yourself.

I'm sorry to hear that. That is way worse than what I went through. I guess maybe I don't feel so great about myself right now. I feel more like a burden, honestly. So many people helped me, and I can do nothing in return.

Most people don't look for you to be able to pay them back. Have you ever heard of the cycle of karma? People will help you out, then you'll help someone else out, then they'll help someone else out, until the favour comes back to the people that helped you. Just by carrying on, you're going to be able to help them in some way, even if you can't offer direct help.

And you'll feel better soon. Say...why don't you come to the spa with me? I was planning a girl's day out?
